The Bel Canto Performance Foundation was created to educate and enhance public awareness of vocal and instrumental music by providing performance opportunities for both amateur and professional musicians. The selection of the performers to be supported for this part of the Bel Canto Performance Foundation program will be based upon auditions, recommendations, and reviews of performances. Funding for these aspects of the Bel Canto Performance Foundation's program will be derived partly from ticket sales and partly from solicited donations.

In addition, the Bel Canto Performance Foundation provides enhanced training of musicians by means of master classes, music appreciation classes, vocal competitions, and choral ensemble classes. Those activities will be achieved by sponsoring highly qualified master instructors either from the San Diego area or elsewhere. A similar enhanced training program is planned for choirs, ensembles, and their musical directors in order to improve group tone quality and other technical aspects of group performance. Funding for this part of the Bel Canto Performance Foundation program will be derived partly from fees charged to participants in the master classes and partly from solicited donations.
